Life as I know it!

What's life? Well, I don't know! That's the reason why I'm asking lol! Each of us has a unique calling for us to fulfill---They called it fate. Our own description of our life determines our values, expectations, goals, and perhaps destiny. People say that, the way you see your life shapes your life; it's our life's metaphor. Uhm! Okay, but It's still vague and fuckin' hard to understand the complexities of life.

"My First Love"

You made my eyes jumbo when the first time I saw you. Your innocent look and devilish smile helped me decide that you're the one. Remembering the good times that we had , makes it harder for me to move  on.  I   hope by chance you can read this somewhere. I taught you how to read remember? Haha!

My Dentist's Boobies

It was one fine afternoon, when I decided to pay a visit to my dentist.   The sky was clear, temperature, 92 degrees, humidity 97 percent, and both were climbing (of course I’m lying, I’m not a weather forecaster duh!). It was just the kind of day that never failed to inspire me to avoid procrastination.  I was eager to show up for my scheduled teeth prophylaxis, which I religiously do at least twice a year.

Kris Kringle

Christmas season is in the air!   In the spirit of Christmas, we usually do Kris Kringle in our country. We exchange gifts weekly following different categories like something sweet, nasty, memorable,  colorful blah blah blah     = )   I don't  know, but I'm very excited receiving and giving presents. It makes me feel special somehow. I also enjoy  looking at people's reactions opening their presents. Some presents are super cool others might be so-so. It's not  the amount of gift  you're going to get but it's the thought that matters the most. Well anyway, as part of my tradition on my blog. I won't stop discovering the origin of different traditions whether special or unusual as long as it's worth knowing.

What's Kris Kringle by the way?  I know that Christmas history and traditions came from different sources and have evolved throughout generations. Since, it's very entertaining and  worth knowing I tried to collate every piece of information I got on the net.

Kris Kringle originated from Germany and America. It's a name derived from Christ Kindel( Christ-Child). The name Kris Kringle is still popular as the Santa Claus of some Pennsylvania Dutch web pages today. He Carries a tiny Christmas tree and enters the house through a window left open. When he has left the presents, he rings a bell allowing the household to know of his departure. Thus" Kris Kringle" a name deriving from the German Christ Kindel is another name for Santa Claus.

The persona of Santa Claus showed up among the Pennsylvania Dutch in the mid 1820's in the form of Kris Kringle/Belsnickle (Pelz-nickle) which means "Nicholas in Furs"   Belsnickle would travel the Pennsylvania countryside ringing his bell looking for good children to give out his small gifts of cakes and nuts to. If Belsnickle came across a child who had not been behaving in the past year, he would warn the child to be good or else he might give them a smack with his rod. Anyways, whilst " Santa Claus" is more popular over the world, to some people Kris Kringle( Christ Child) has become used as another synonym for Santa Claus.

That's how the story goes guys.  I hope you learned something worth knowing today. Let's have a blast on our Kris Kringle!

"Message in a Tumbler 2010"

Sounds similar right? Nope! It's definitely not what you think. I didn't copy the  title of my post, from the movie "Message in a bottle". Well anyway, here's how it started. It was Saturday afternoon , when I decided to roam around the shopping mall. I went to the men's apparel to check out clothes, and some goodies that I can use at work; none of them was an eye catcher. I didn't want to go home empty-handed, so I decided  to buy a tumbler.  Thousands showed up in variety of colors and have good packages as well.  I actually heard voices from one of  them saying buy me, buy me... not them me! (lol)  But one tumbler stands out the crowd and only a few pieces are left.  Its cap is made of the finest steel and the transparency illuminates the pristineness of  water.  Its  slender shape enables the user  to have a good grip while drinking, and enough to quench your thirst.  On top of that, it has encrypted messages of life experiences,  which only the chosen one has the power and authority to decipher those codes. I strongly believe that I'm the chosen one,  because it's me who bought  it.  Oh man!  what a headache describing the tumbler. Its better to show you the actual picture, and enumerate the messages encrypted on it to cut the story short.  It took me 3 days in conceptualizing my tumbler's photo shoot such a pain in the ass.

Chuck up the Sponge?

"You only ran out of options if you stop thinking of it. Hence, giving up is not an option" It's a common cliche that most people preserve including myself.  Lately, I've been having a deeper reflection entertaining this thought. It just keeps on popping in my head and incessantly reminding me that there are things in life that are not meant to be. Honestly. it's stressful and nerve-racking. But it helped  me to swallow defeat  and be cognizant of the idea that everything has reasons. Though, I'm  fucking  tired giving  and finding reasons to the things that happened to me.

When do you give up? A simple question yet complicated in nature. For a few weeks now, there were days in my life that I just want to be stationary. I just want to internalize the harmonious rhythm of life despite the dissonance I felt inside. The pandemonium inside my core is such a severe pain in the ass. Loneliness, emptiness and setbacks have made me jealous to death with others. Am I cursed or just ain't lucky enough to have things on my way?

I decided to post a  discussion in the forum to ask some advice. Surprisingly, ruminating with their answers restores my sanity. Without their thoughts, this post wouldn't  be ruined possible.

When you have choice, and that choice keeps popping its little head in your cycle of awareness, and saying "Hi, there." For without that choice, what you're doing might suck, but you know where the mine fields are.

I would say intuition kicks in and when you can't shake that feeling of  "time to move on" that's when it's time lol.

"FGEjdl"
Yup. And, when you start thinking about moving on, and you're asking yourself if it's time to move on, posting threads asking if it's time to move on, you're pretty much agreeing with yourself that you know it's time to move on and you just want clarification, because you're too pussy shit to do it. So all in all, here is our answer: Move the Fuck On.

Daylight Saving Time (DST)

My first job was a call center agent .  I responded to the queries of customers across the globe. Since we’re an Asian country, we don’t actually observe Daylight Saving Time (DST).  One day, it happens that one of my supervisors instructed us to change our time due to DST.   The first thing that crossed my mind was, what the heck we’re doing?  What the hell is DST!  Is it  a.) Are we going to use solar panels to save energy? b.) Switch off the light in the morning?  c.) Do a dance craze similar to oompa loompas ? or  d.) Do I need to drain the energy from the sunlight , using a laser sword like in Power Rangers ? (Those were the stupidest queries I had in mind when I first heard of such word).  Well I guess, I was not the only moron during that time. No one can exactly tell what it is including my supervisors. They’re just following orders I guess ^_^

WHAT IS DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME (DST)?
It is a way of getting  more light out of the day by advancing clocks by one hour during the summer. Since, the sun appears to rise one hour later in the morning and sets one hour later in the evening making the day longer. The clock moves ahead ( thus, losing one hour), when DST starts, typically in the spring, and falls  back one hour (thus, gaining one hour) when DST ends in the fall.  To make it easier to remember which way the clock goes, keep in mind one of these sayings: " Spring forward, fall back" or spring ahead, fall behind."
In a typical case where a one hour shift occurs at 2:00 local time, in spring the clock jumps forward from 2:00 standard time to 3:00 DST and that day has 23 hours, whereas in autumn the clock jumps backward from 2:00 DST to 1:00 standard time, repeating that hour, and that day has 25 hours.

WHEN DID IT START?

1784- Benjamin Franklin first suggested Daylight Saving Time.
1895- Modern DST was proposed by George Vernon Hudson( He presented a proposal for a    two-hour daylight saving shift to the Wellington Philosophical Society.
1905- The conception of DST was mainly credited to an English builder, William Willett ( He presented  the idea to advance the clock during the summer months.
1916- DST was adopted and implemented by several countries in Europe who initially rejected the idea.

Please don't stop the rain

I was really having a hard time today thinking of what entry should I post. I'm running out of ideas! Well, I just decided to make a video of one of my favorite songs which was sang by James Morrison. Times might be rough and there's nothing we can do about it . We just need to let it pass, enjoy and embrace the moment. Whatever happens, always remember that everything will be fine and tomorrow is a brand new day to live and hope once again. Enjoy watching!

Origin of Halloween

Before this month ends, I want to post an entry that is worth knowing.  Since Halloween fever is in the air. I tried to read some articles/facts on how did this holiday started.  So for those people who love trick and treats and wearing Halloween costumes check what I found out. Have a spooky Halloween!

According to History.com, "Halloween, celebrated each year on October 31, is a mix of ancient Celtic practices, Catholic and Roman religious rituals and European folk traditions that blended together over time to create the holiday we know today. Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity and life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. Halloween has long been thought of as a day when the dead can return to the earth, and ancient Celts would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off these roaming ghosts. The Celtic holiday of Samhain, the Catholic Hallowmas period of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day and the Roman festival of Feralia all influenced the modern holiday of Halloween. In the 19th century, Halloween began to lose its religious connotation, becoming a more secular community-based children's holiday. Although the superstitions and beliefs surrounding Halloween may have evolved over the years, as the days grow shorter and the nights get colder, people can still look forward to parades, costumes and sweet treats to usher in the winter season."

Trick or Treating is also a tradition of Halloween with early starts. Trick or Treating came from All Soul's Day parades in early England.  The poor citizens of England would line up on the sides of the street as the richer members of the community paraded by and threw them pastries called soul cakes.  The starving citizens would accept these cakes in exchange for praying for the richer class's dead family member.

Another tradition of Halloween is Dressing up costumes.  This is another tradition that started in early England where citizens, knowing that Hallows Eve was a time for spirits of their ancestors to come back and taunt them, would dress up in masks and costumes to keep the spirits of their ancestors to come back and taunt them, would dress up in masks and costumes to keep the spirits from recognizing them.

Work! Work! Work! vs Jail! Jail! Jail!

I just woke up and  checked on my clock it's already 11AM.  I only have 2 hours to prepare for my work. I don't know but, I've been tired and stressed lately about my job. You do the same routines every day. I conduct classes from pm to am. Make notes using the fastest internet connection I've ever used (It takes ages actually). I get my salary on the 15th and the 30th of the month which is sometimes stressful because of my  taxes. Given the fact that my taxes are getting higher and higher every cut off.  Then the next day,  I find out  doing the job that never crossed my  mind even in my wildest dream.  But I guess, that's life. You need to work  to survive and get a life.  Anyway,  while writing this entry. I just recalled a place where everything is free. Yes! you heard me right it's absolutely free.  You are even sheltered and taken care off. The haven that I'm talking about is a jail cell.  We had a chance to interview and  live with them way back in college.  So for sake of other people who haven't been there and tired of making a living guess what?  You will find that place as a sanctuary! Check out the Major-major-Major difference...

1. In jail... ( You will be fed 3x a day, it's 100% absolutely free )  At work...you will be stressed out on what food to buy because of your limited budget. That’s why, you will always end up eating these snacks:

2.  In jail... (if you're well-behaved you will be given a parole). At work...  will just be given with such a workload for a good behavior or even ask to make a "parol"(Christmas lantern) on Christmas party.

3. At work... you will be stressed out with rumors/gossips about you.  In jail... you don't fret about it. Why? Simply because, people are chit-chatting more on how to escape hahaha!

Aren't they the  reasons  why people want to go back inside the cell? Haha ( Just asking!!!)
Ooops!!! time is over guys. Time to go to work!
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!!!

Dance with my Father-Luther Vandross

I was browsing on YouTube last night and surprised to see myself got teary-eyed with this song. It simply reminds me of  how blessed I am to have my father, who has been with me through ups and downs.  To my father who's always been there whenever I needed money and  never let me down. Thanks haha =)      Kidding aside, check out the lyrics of the song.  I'm sure you will remember the happy moments you shared with your Father. God bless all the fathers out there!    ( Note: You can check the song at my "Music playlist")

DANCE WITH MY FATHER
  (Luther Vandross)

Back when I was a child
Before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother and me and then

Spin me around till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure
I was loved

If I could get another chance
Another walk, another dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
How I’d love, love, love to dance with my father again

Ooh, ooh

When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way I would run from her to him
He’d make me laugh just to comfort me, yeah, yeah
Then finally make me do just what my mama said

Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he
Would be gone from me

If I could steal one final glance
One final step, one final dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
‘Cause I’d love, love, love to dance with my father
again

Sometimes I’d listen outside her door
And I’d hear her, mama cryin’ for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me

I know I’m prayin’ for much too much
But could You send back the only man she loved
I know You don’t do it usually
But Lord, she’s dyin’ to dance with my father again
Every night I fall asleep
And this is all I ever dream

DOOLY

My world has gone wild when I met Dooly. Not actually met, because he's a virtual character haha!!  A green dinosaur with white tummy who loves to charm/bully people.  He's atrocious yet a debonair in nature. We're exactly alike in terms of appeal, charm and confidence. Popularity wise, he's ahead of me but swear I'm getting there. Unknowingly! while writing this entry, my nose started to ooze with blood. OMG! nosebleed, maybe because of what I wrote.
